What was the fulcrum of the labor ecosystem for decades – the office – has evolved in an extraordinary way. Today, the office is increasingly a place in which “we want to spend time,” precisely because of the spread of new approaches to work and the possibility of remote participation, offering workers a wider range of choices. In this outlook, the quality of contemporary office furnishings becomes crucial. Also for this reason, the offerings of Manerba, a family company in the field of office design, known as the “tailor of offices” precisely for its ability to interpret the sweeping changes in the sector and to translate them into custom solutions, grant form to welcoming, flexible and easily adaptable environments.

Because workspace continues to evolve, flexibility becomes an essential prerequisite. Having furnishings that can be shaped on the basis of momentary necessities gives companies the fluidity that is indispensable to adapt spaces to functional needs. Workplaces have to respond easily to mutable situations, going well beyond the addition or removal of workstations. Instead, the focus is on the ability to modify settings and related functions.
Precisely in reaction to this scenario, Manerba presents the project Super Random by Gio Tirotto, a system of single and modular seating that complies with parameters of transformation and easy disassembly. Thanks to the use of technology for the curving of plywood, it has been possible to create an original form that responds to the main structural needs of the system: the legs supporting the upholstered furnishings with removable covers (infinitely multiple), the tops, and a freestanding stackable stool.

The system is composed of bench modules, linear or curved, padded with removable covers, available in a range of lengths; a stackable stool in FSC certified and curved plywood, which can be used on its own – as a seat or a table top – or can become a terminal element for textile benches; and, finally, the joining elements (again in FSC certified and curved wood), also with the function of providing surfaces for objects and work.
Another characteristic of contemporary work is cooperation: technology is effectively built in, and the office seems to be moving towards a new dimension focusing on interaction and exchange. Interpersonal collaboration has become even more important, implying the need for “crossover” furnishings that allow for various usage modes, to support concepts of community and to facilitate communication.

This is the direction taken by the meeting & seating system Kokoro, designed for Manerba by Federica Biasi. The key terms of the system, composed of alcoves, sofas and tables of various sizes, offering visual and acoustic privacy, are modular design, freedom and comfort.
Modular design implies basic elements that permit different configurations and solutions. Freedom means that the system responds to a wide range of design possibilities. Comfort, finally, because the elegant forms have been formulated to create a sense of intimacy, enhanced by the backs in two heights, with sound-absorbing properties.
