The "Effortless Style" of Flexform

Camelot and Lauren are the names of the sofa system and armchair designed by Antonio Citterio for the brand

“There is a desire for Italy around the world,” say those at Flexform, a brand that for over half a century has offered a wide collection of home furnishings with a focus on sofa production, the company’s core business. The strength of the design choices is the “Effortless Style,” an unmistakable result of Italian manufacturing savoir-faire, made-in-Italy materials, understated elegance, coherence in values and production, and sustainability. The new Camelot and Lauren offerings, designed by Antonio Citterio, who has been the deus ex machina and interpreter of the brand’s values for over forty years, make tangible the competent and intellectually honest cultural and productive approach that has made Flexform an international benchmark.

Camelot is a sofa that adapts, integrates, welcomes, and is able to respond to the complexity of today’s living landscape,” explains Citterio. “The essence of the Lauren armchair is instead that of travel: it is a nomadic object that embodies the pleasure of moving, of exploring; an outdoor object reinterpreted for indoor use thanks to the use of leather.” Designed according to an advanced modularity concept, the Camelot seating system allows for highly customized configurations, both in terms of composition and material combinations. Contemporary flair is evident in the play of contrasts between the formal rigor of the structure in metal, wood, or leather and the welcoming softness of the upholstered elements. The variety of modules differentiated by width and depth allows for designing solutions suitable for diverse spaces. The cushions feature significant dimensions and enveloping padding in Certified Gold goose down by Assopiuma.

Flexform’s tailoring vocation is evident in the details and choice of finishes: the coverings can be in fabric or leather, and the range of metallic details and the cylindrical bar – in wood in numerous fine essences or covered in leather – is vast; the cushions are finished with an elegant profile in options that contrast with the fabric color or ton-sur-ton.

The design of the folding Lauren armchair interprets tradition in a contemporary key and pays homage to Italian cabinetry. Light and simple at first glance, Lauren is meticulously studied in every constructive detail. The structure is in solid wood, turned and finished by hand, while the elegant armrest is in metal covered in leather, a material also used for the seat and backrest.

Great attention is also paid to the metal hardware, which, being custom-designed, enriches the project with precious details waiting to be discovered. Thanks to its light design and meticulous construction, Lauren plays a starring role in every area of the home, whether on its own or paired with the sofas from the Flexform collection. Camelot and Lauren concentrate aesthetic sobriety, moderation, an understated and evergreen approach while maintaining environmental sustainability, whose core value is the longevity of a product: Flexform creations are made with the finest materials and the most advanced construction techniques precisely to last over time.
