From May 17-19, 2025, New York City’s historic Starrett-Lehigh Building, a jewel of 1930s industrial architecture and now a coveted lifestyle destination, will host Shelter, a trade show event organized by Afternoon Light (a publishing/commercial platform dedicated to furniture and design) and curated by Deirdre Maloney and Minya Quirk.

Shelter was born out of a desire to push the boundaries of traditional trade shows by offering an immersive, accessible, shoppable and engaging format. Featuring more than 100 brands and creatives, Shelter provides an overview of cutting-edge furniture, home goods, art and design.

Prominent players include British designer Tom Dixon, USM Modular Furniture with a new collaboration with Henry Julier, and lighting brand Roll & Hill, with two new collections. No-Ga (Nordiska Galleriet) is presenting the first collection signed by designer Willo Perron, while Danish brand Audo showcases the latest additions to its catalogue, carrying on the legacy of Nordic design.

The Design Dysphoria curatorial group
Space is also given to the more irreverent soul of design with JONALDDUDD, which celebrates its 10th anniversary with a selection of 65 designers, and with the group exhibition Design Dysphoria, dedicated to LGBTQIA+ art and design.

The public will be able to buy directly at the fair, from furniture to small collectors’ editions, with a special shipping service. Shelter is for everyone: architects, decorators, the curious, young buyers and design enthusiasts. The program includes talks, meetings and panels with journalists, creatives and curators.
