Living beyond boundaries

Orizzonte is the new modular collection designed by Pininfarina Design for Reflex – a flexible, transformable and customisable system that approaches design as a way of life, pushing beyond the limits of traditional living. First unveiled at Milan Design Week, the collection explores new ways of inhabiting space through a balance of aesthetics, functionality and compositional freedom

More than a decade after the debut of the iconic Segno collection, Reflex and Pininfarina reunite for a new project that expands the horizon of contemporary furniture. Orizzonte marks an evolution in modular thinking – a system of furnishings that seamlessly bridges function, aesthetics and adaptability, tailored to the diverse demands of today’s fluid lifestyles.

At the heart of the collection is the sofa, composed of a wide array of modules – straight, curved, double seats, and islands – that can stand alone or be freely combined into flexible, customisable layouts. Every piece is conceived to evolve with the space it inhabits, from private homes to lounges, workspaces, public interiors and even yachts.

The defining feature is a horizontal line running through each element – the very inspiration behind the name Orizzonte, Italian for “horizon.” It serves as both a visual and functional gesture: along this line, optional wooden inserts can be added, transforming into side tables, linking surfaces or integrated storage solutions. A discreet yet clever feature that enhances the system’s usability and allows for layered, multifunctional compositions.

This same visual identity is extended to the table. Its glass top, designed to appear weightless, floats above a set of composable legs that adapt to various forms and sizes, including circular layouts. The aesthetic language remains consistent: essential, elegant and instantly recognisable, yet endlessly adaptable.

What truly sets Orizzonte apart is its interactive nature. The backrests of the sofa are manually adjustable, with no visible mechanisms. A simple touch allows the user to modify the seating position intuitively, ensuring comfort without compromising design purity.
With Orizzonte, Pininfarina delivers for Reflex a bold new chapter in the evolution of interior design – one where furniture becomes a dynamic ecosystem in constant dialogue with its users and surroundings. No longer just objects, but tools for living: intuitive, personal, and open to change.
