Translating the values of sailing into a collection of rugs: this design challenge gave rise to the collaboration between Sahrai Milano and Pininfarina, two leaders in interior design who have combined their expertise to create something truly new and innovative. On the one hand, the centuries-old art of weaving, still done by hand today with fine yarns; on the other, pure avant-garde, which has evolved from the automotive sector into an established presence in product design, experience design, and architecture. A meeting of seemingly distant savoir-faire, united by the goal of creating new luxury experiences capable of arousing deep emotions. This vision gave rise to the Materia collection: not just a simple decorative textile offering, but experimental research into textures and materials designed to give continuity and new expressiveness to nautical design.

The rugs in this line are made from unusual materials such as wood, carbon fiber, and luminous inserts, giving each piece a completely original allure that directly recalls the style and design of the splendid floating villas that inspired them and where they find their ideal home. These components are incorporated into high-quality weaves composed of bamboo silk, wool, and embossed bamboo silk, tufted by hand.

The collection encompasses three different designs: Idea, a rug featuring an ebony wood insert (the first experiment of its kind in rug design), which is combined with a sophisticated gray background punctuated by delicate blue lines, creating a striking visual contrast that immediately catches the eye.
Luce reproduces the chiaroscuro trails that move across the surface and culminate in the edges enclosed by a luminous insert. Finally, Acqua pays homage to the power of the natural element and its perpetual motion, represented by a blue line that crosses it along a three-dimensional gray background. The Materia Collection is designed to elevate any space with an exclusive atmosphere, immersing you in a sense of comfort and wonder that reflects the feeling of being in the middle of the sea.
