Fashion, gourmet dining, culture. The innovative ‘Food meets Fashion meets Hospitality’ concept is the flagship of Amorim Luxury – one of the leading lifestyle groups in Portugal’s luxury market. Their JNcQUOI brand quickly expanded beyond the capital, reaching Comporta, an oceanic oasis in the south of the country, with a beach club, a restaurant, a suite, a series of villas, and a hotel complex.
Surrounded by white sand dunes, green pine forests, and the Atlantic blue of Praia do Pego, the JNcQUOI Beach Club was designed by Vincent Van Duysen, drawing inspiration from the historical context of the place, long inhabited by fishermen and imbued with a sense of simplicity. A striking wooden deck forms the entrance and leads to areas crafted from a series of understated materials: reeds, stained wood, rushes, and soft fabrics providing shade for the perimeter lounge and dining areas.
Meanwhile, the interiors become more vibrant with white wood-clad walls, reed ceilings, and accents of terracotta and blue hues that infuse energy into the space. The designer applied meticulous attention to detail, from the bicycle parking to the lifeguard station, from the beach cabanas to the furnishings: everything custom-made. Turning inland, the JNcQUOI Deli Comporta restaurant, beyond delighting the palate with Chef Jerónimo Ferreira’s cuisine, is designed to be enjoyed at different times of the day thanks to two outdoor areas, a terrace, a covered patio, and a main dining room for 43 people.
The Belgian studio JPDEMEYER&CO made the counter the design focal point, surrounded by references to Portuguese culture, such as Viúva Lamego tiles, curtains made by the ‘A Avó Veio Trabalhar’ association, hand-painted vases by artist Susa Monteiro from Beja, and typical Alentejo ceramics handcrafted by Olaria Pirraça in Redondo. Even the hand-painted plaster ceiling reproduces the effect of the area’s characteristic straw roofs.
Directly above the restaurant, with a completely private access, a suite accommodates up to 5 guests and, also curated by JPDEMEYER&CO, reflects the venue’s spirit with a sophisticated yet always relaxed and informal taste, characterized by tones of blue, yellow, and bordeaux. The JNcQUOI Club, a true refuge nestled in a protected reserve that includes 64 private villas and a 34-suite hotel, is set to be completed in 2028.
This gem will offer 5-star services, including in-house butlers and 1 km of private beach, which Vincent Van Duysen has once again masterfully integrated into the wild landscape. Pigmented concrete structures with a horizontal layout, designed not to alter the visual lines of the coast, are paired with green roofs, planted with native herbs. Meanwhile, terracotta tiles, along with the use of wood and cork, establish a strong connection with the Alentejo culture.
