Adjacent to Passeig de Gràcia and directly opposite the emblematic Teatre Tívoli, and also close to landmarks like Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and the central Plaça Catalunya, it’s no surprise that the 5-star ME Barcelona‘s location allows guests to discover the trendiest yet most culturally rich side of the Catalan city. The ME BY MELIÁ brand aims to transform one of its latest ‘hospitality gems’ into a gathering point for both guests and locals, enabling them to enjoy the city’s most fascinating and stimulating places
Within the hotel, three distinct gastronomic concepts, ample event spaces, and a large internal garden serving as a green lung complement over 3,000 sqm of outdoor areas, across a total surface of 12,649 sqm. This includes a rooftop pool and an urban garden that supplies the finest raw ingredients to its restaurants.
This is the result of the building’s renovation work by architects FITARQ and the interior adaptation by Mur Arquitectos and ASAH, where contemporary art and innovative design harmoniously blend. The 164 rooms and suites, spread across 14 floors, feature neutral tones with hints of yellow and natural finishes, providing a backdrop for furnishings by Ronan & Ewan Bouroullec and Jaime Hayón, or unique pieces such as the decorative glass bottles crafted by Josep Ma Jujol, a close collaborator of Antoni Gaudí who created the Casa de Familia bottle in 1912.
Oscar Tusquets’ tables are paired with Patricia Urquiola’s vibrant Roll Club armchairs for Kettal. And in the corridors, the signage pays homage to Barba Corsini, the Barcelona architect who, in the 1960s, was tasked with transforming La Pedrera’s attic into a series of apartments. Finally, like the entire international Meliá Hotels portfolio, ME Barcelona also champions strong sustainability values through energy self-sufficiency and the use of renewable sources.
