Walter Knoll | Aisuu

Just two materials – steel and natural leather – for two seats that represent the reissue of an original design from the 1960s by Otto Kolb, an architect and teacher at the New Bauhaus

Minimalist and sustainable, thanks to the use of just two materials, the Aisuu Chair and Aisuu Side Chair (designed by Ginger Zalaba) are a tribute to the project by Otto Kolb – the designer’s grandfather – with whom Walter Knoll worked for years. The chairs have a structure in steel tubing and a seat in leather, stitched by hand. The Aisuu Chair, the more austere of the two, is made with three tubes that meet at six points; though welded, they seem like a single piece. The Aisuu Side Chair has wing-shaped armrests; with respect to the original project, it has been optimized in terms of ergonomics and angle.
